Ways to Detox That Don't Involve Juice

I know you’ve heard of the 3 and 5 day detoxes, maybe you’ve even tried them.

In previous years.

I even knew a lot of people who practiced Dry January to detox from alcohol (not so much this year).

There are so many ways to help your body and mind release what’s no longer serving it though. You don’t need to do a juice cleanse for 3 days while starving yourself of nutrients in order to give yourself a refresh or to forgo alcohol for only a month.

Here are a few of my favorite ways to detox your body and mind:

  1. Ionic Detox Foot Bath: This has become my new favorite treatment! If you’ve seen my stories on Instagram or Facebook then you’ve seen how gross the water gets from pulling out the toxins. It works by giving the hydrogen in the water a positive charge. The positive charge is said to attract the negatively charged toxins in your body. The ions in the foot bath water supposedly have a charge that enables them to bind to any heavy metals and toxins in your body, similar to how a magnet works, which allows the toxins to be pulled out through the bottoms of your feet.

  2. Sweating: Whether it’s in a sauna or working out, sweating is one of the most natural and effective ways to rid your body of toxins. Just be sure to bundle up after if you’re at the gym and heading out into the cold. You don’t want to shock your body too much with the huge temperature difference.

  3. Massage: Massage therapy treatments help dissolve and eliminate toxin buildup in the tissues, which are then released into the bloodstream. Your body then works to transport them out through excretion. This is why you’re told to drink lots of water after a massage so you flush out everything that was just released.

  4. Tech Free Time: Give yourself several hours or heck, even a day, of no screens. That’s no phones, computers, tablets, or TV. This allows your mind and body to really recenter and allows for more creative ideas to percolate. It's a great opportunity to do a hobby you enjoy outside of technology.

  5. Change Your Perspective: One of the biggest causes of stress and toxic build up in your body is your mindset. Focusing on the negative, worst case scenarios, judgments and resentments not only makes you feel emotionally low, but it eventually manifests itself physically as pains in the body. So the next time you feel that negative thought popping up, because it will, try to spin it into something you’re grateful for.

I do all of these from time to time and am really utilizing the ionic foot baths and changing my perspective while I continue to heal and detox from mycotoxins.

Tell me which detox method sounds the most appealing to you?
